... This is the submission page for Remix.Kwed.Org, a site dealing exclusively in re-interpretations of Commodore 64 SID tunes. If you don't know what a SID or a Commodore 64 is, please don't submit anything.
---------------------------------------------------------------- (Or: your secret is safe with us. But we have to know.) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Arrangers who submit tunes to Remix.Kwed.Org will be required to enter a valid contact e-mail address. As artist and remix information submitted to Remix.Kwed.Org is passed on to Remix64.com, your contact details (name, email address, group (if specified), website (if specified) and IP address at the time of upload, will be stored on both sites. RKO allows end-users to contact arrangers through a feedback form - without disclosing your e-mail address. Remix64 will only publish your contact information if specifically asked to do so by you, when you create an account there. Should you choose to reveal your e-mail address by replying to an e-mail received via a feedback form, that is your personal choice. ----------------------------------------------------------------
Please add remix.kwed.org@gmail.com to your address book, to help emails get through to you.
To speed up the staff workflow and ensure a faster flow of new tunes made available for the public the following tasks are now automated:
Files are renamed to "<arranger> - <title>.mp3" after upload.
Title/Artist/Year/Composer ID3v2 tags are automatically inserted into the file, based on the form
input.
Any underscores found in the track title are replaced by spaces.
SID composer details will be extracted from the STIL database entry for the SID and used for the
composer ID3v2 tags.
The "genre" and "album" tags will be set to "C64 Remix" and "https://Remix.Kwed.Org", respectively.
Album art will be added.
Other ID3v2 tags will be left untouched.
ID3v1 tags are ERASED.
Only MP3 files encoded in 192 Kbps/44Khz or better are accepted. Everything else is automatically
rejected upon upload.
Uploads without a valid HVSC 81 filename specified will be automatically rejected.
( Note that the HVSC filename is case-sensitive and uses front-slashes. It should also be the
relative path, so strip the
"http://files.exotica.org.uk/?file=exotica/media/audio/High_Voltage_Sid_Collection/C64Music/" part of
the URL if you're using ExoticA.
Incorrect: D:\c64music\musicians\g\galway_martin\wizball.sid
Correct: MUSICIANS/G/Galway_Martin/Wizball.sid )
(If you haven't got the
HVSC installed locally, use the
ExoticA search interface to find
the full HVSC path and filename.
Uploads without SID subtune will be automatically rejected. (If the SID only has one tune, enter "1" on
the form below.)
Give your submission a descriptive title:
Include the name of the SID, as people will often search for a specific title, or sort the tune listing by
title.
Bad title: "Avenge me, Armakuni!"
Good title: "Last Ninja (Avenge me, Armakuni!)"
If you are submitting a revised version of something, upload the new version and leave a note that it should
replace the previous one - and please include the full title if you want to replace something already
published.
If you want to replace something that's currently queued, you will loose your place in the queue, so make sure
that you upload the final version and save both yourself and the RKO staff a bit of bother. :)
Please DO NOT email dropbox/google drive/wetransfer or other links to updated versions.
Please don't upload work-in-progress tunes here. Visit the Remix 64 messageboard if you'd like feedback on your unfinished tune. If you ask them nicely, the friendly folks there will listen to your work and offer you advice and constructive critisism.
Please don't request submitted tunes to be released at a set date or after a particular show has been aired. If you don't want a tune to be released until later, don't submit it until it's ready for general release to the public.
Please enter a valid e-mail address when signing up the first time. If you're already registered (ie. your name appears on the drop-down list at the bottom of this page) and want to change your contact details please contact me to have it updated.
If you get a "Thanks for your upload" message your submission has made it to the upload queue, so please don't re-submit uploads or mail me asking what happened to the file. You will receive a tracking URL via e-mail once your upload is in the queue and another e-mail one once your upload has been tagged for approval/rejection.
Please don't upload mash-ups of SIDs and commercial tunes, no matter how well you think tunes fit each other.
Please don't SID2MIDI a tune and merely replace the instruments.
Please don't upload AI-generated remixes. While modern-day AI tools can come up with amazing things in the hands of a good prompt-writer, this community is rooted in musical creativity, skill and effort (see "Give your tune a soul and a life of its own" above.)
Don't remake SIDs that cover well-known tunes (Jarre, Vangelis, etc.) More often than not you'll subconsciously end up covering the original tune, rather than the SID. Use your creative energy on something else instead.
You can verify that the tune you are submitting isn't itself a cover by checking the latest version of the SID Tune Information List. Also, if you have HVSC installed, simply configure your SID player to automatically display STIL entries for each tune. Please consult the documentation with your SID player for more information.
If you're new to remixing, check out the "Getting started as a remixer" article on Remix64.com.
You have the right to choose where to have your tunes hosted, and RKO has the right not to host your work.
Please visit the Remix 64 forum if you feel your work is unfairly rejected. The friendly folks there will listen to your work and offer you advice and constructive critisism.
People have different taste in music, and might provide positive or negative feedback on your tune. By submitting your work to Remix.Kwed.Org you acknowledge that user feedback can go either way.
Instructions: Fill in the form, pick a file (max size 50 Mb), hit the "Upload!" button and wait. Do not adjust your browser while uploading. Thank you.
